Style Your Wardrobe
I’m of course talking about my capsule wardrobe creations once again. I’m all about getting that one piece of clothing and giving it a different look every time it’s worn. It’s a good way to cut down on the spending each season and keeping the look fresh. Plus saving a bit of space in the wardrobe too! A capsule wardrobe also creates less waste. Which is something I try to consider in many different areas in my life.
The way to do it is to purchase practical pieces that would go with a few items that you already own. So think about what you need right now, considering the time of year and your lifestyle. As I’m shopping I’m thinking about the cooler months ahead and what colours go with the majority of the clothes I already own. I’m at home more than I am at work, so I’d consider something to head out on the nursery run in or wear at home. I might be blogging or hanging out with the family.
Find Your Key Piece
This time I’ve chosen a chunky mustard yellow knit (which is, dare I say it, ‘on trend’ this Autumn) for multiple occasions.
I love mustard yellow and matching it with earthy browns, animal prints, autumnal plums or vibrant colours. It’s pretty versatile and even makes me feel a bit grown up!
If you find the right cardigan (one that just feels so comfortable that you end up wearing it like a jacket) you’ll be mixing and matching it for work and play. This autumn I’ve found that very one – from Boohoo.com for just £15.00. I really like it as it has batwing sleeves which give a cool ruffle when you push them up. My arms are quite short so I personally favour a three quarter length, otherwise my sleeves just get in the way of everything I do! However, you can play around with it pulling them down if you want. I also like the shape of the cardigan, kind of curved and stylish. A great capsule wardrobe piece.
Funky Stripes
The autumn so far has been quite mild. So I’ve found this to be very practical for throwing over long tops or for heading to work in. It also works with stripes which are also everywhere right now. I love polo necks when the weather turns cooler and this sits well over one. Roll up the sleeves to reveal funky black and white stripes and you’re good to go. Either out for a coffee or stay in for a weekend look. This polo neck was from New Look which is a store I always turn to for the basics I’m looking for.
Keep it Stylish

Check
Heading to the office? Try out something different. I found these green check trousers also on Boohoo and they arrived at the same time. I’ve been wearing wide leg trousers this summer at work quite a lot. Mainly because I didn’t want anything ‘clingy’ in the heat. I then decided I like the look of the wide leg with the high waist, wearing tucked in blouses. Moving onto Autumn and winter these are a gorgeous rich colour. The material is warmer and go with any plain top (a black polo neck here). The the mustard yellow just compliments the green.

Stay Casual
This week has been so warm it’s crazy to think we’re close to the end of October. So when we headed out to a pumpkin patch to pick our own, I was expecting to be wrapping up in a scarf and hat. But the sun was glorious during the daytime, but mornings and evenings are typically cool. My mustard cardie capsule wardrobe item has really come to my rescue on days like these. That’s because it’s all about layering. In fact, I was down to bare arms. Slightly strange for this time of year but as soon as the sun went down, cardigan was thrown back on. Yeah, I can’t get enough of this!
