Rogue Leisure Aylesbury: Bowling and Karaoke

Rogue Leisure Aylesbury – Review

We were kindly invited to go along to Rogue Leisure in Aylesbury for a fun day of bowling and Karaoke! It was half term (and a bit of a chilly day), so this was the perfect indoor activity to keep 7 year old Eva (as well as Darrel and I) amused.

What to Expect at Rogue Leisure

Rogue Leisure is a multi-activity centre situated on an industrial estate. There’s plenty of free parking in the carpark. Inside there is a high speed Go-Karting track which is the fastest indoor Go-Kart in the UK. There is ten pin bowling, a private karaoke room, arcades, a games arena and a cafe bar.

The Go-Karting is for adults and children over 8, so we didn’t try it out. However, we did have two games of ten pin bowling, over an hour in the karaoke room and loads of time spent in the arcades.

Rogue Leisure Bowling

When we arrived, we headed straight for the bowling. There was no need to change our shoes – all they ask is that you wear suitable footwear – no flip flops! Everything provided for Eva to make her experience enjoyable, including gutter barriers on her turn, a ramp to help her bowl easier (although she stopped using it after a while!) and lighter bowling balls.

The atmosphere was really fun, with music, lighting (and it wasn’t too dark) and friendly staff. Each game is estimated to take around ten minutes per person – so for us each game took half an hour in total.

It had been a while since I last went bowling, so I was a bit rusty. It was safe to say I didn’t win! Eva came second, which she was quite happy about.

Then the Karaoke!

Once we had our two games of ten pin bowling, we were shown to the karaoke pod. Inside were sofas, a box of hats and wigs, disco lights and tables for drinks and snacks (which can be brought to you if ordered). You can have up to 8 people in a pod, which is great for families or events such as team building or hen/stag parties.

There was a 50 inch screen on the wall if you needed the words to sing along to, and a screen to select your songs. We had about an hour in the pod – we weren’t rushed, and we had time to select the songs we wanted. You have the option to add them to your play list, so they are then played back to back. You can also remove songs in the playlist if you change your mind.

There are 80,000 songs to choose from and they are any genre and era. Eva decided to take over the karaoke for most of the time in there, singing ‘Don’t Stop’ by Fleetwood Mac by herself and ‘I’m gonna be’ by The Proclaimers! We both sang a few slightly more up to date songs too, and I decided I really couldn’t sing when I attempted ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi!

We did have a lot of fun – and for someone who wouldn’t normally get up in a pub to do karaoke, this felt a lot ‘safer’ as there wasn’t an audience watching. I would imagine it would be really fun in an evening with a group of friends and cocktails.

By the time we had played ten pin bowling and done the karaoke, we headed over for food. There is a large area in the games arena (which has an American pool table and table tennis) where you can sit for drinks and food. You order at the bar, then your food and drinks will be bought to your table.

There is a licensed bar as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks and slushies. You can also get food such as pizza, chips, hot dogs and nachos.

Once we had eaten, we spent the rest of our time at Rogue Leisure in the arcades. Eva played Mario Kart, air hockey and Dance Dance Revolution. There were plenty of other arcade games, coin pushers and grab machines.
