Trackstart UK at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre
Gifted for review
In the May half term I was kindly offered a space for Eva to attend the Trackstart athletics holiday camp in Eton. Based at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre, the children were coached by real athletes.
The camps are for children aged 5-13 years, and it felt very inclusive. Eva isn’t particularly sporty, but the games were made fun, and she made new friends. The centre has an indoor hall, where we dropped her off in the morning. Children could freely play with the footballs, basketballs or there were games such as giant Jenga and Connect 4 (so they weren’t tired from being active all day).
The weather was glorious for the week, so they spent time outside on the field and track. They practised long jump, triple jump, small hurdles, high jump, running and even javelin. They also played team games. Parents and carers even got the chance to watch the end of the games at pick up time. We even watched Eva win a relay race!

She went for three days out of the four that week (the Monday was a bank holiday), and really enjoyed it. She didn’t seem too tired as there was a good mix of games in the main hall to break up the day.

Thames Valley Athletics Centre
The centre was developed in 1999 on Eton Colleges former Athletics Track, and offers a range of leisure facilities. There is a health club and gym as well as the outdoor facilities which are open to the public all year round. There is a carpark for visitors and a cafe in the reception, as well as vending machines.
Trackstart is formerly known as Startrack and is now a brand new camp for children, blending fun games and engaging activities with learning Athletic skills. They coach the three fundamental skills of Athletics, which are running, throwing and jumping. They will be offering holiday camps throughout the summer and then in the half terms.

Times and Location
The holiday camps run between 9am – 3pm, but they offer earlier drop off and later pick ups, from 8am until 5pm. Discounts available for siblings. When we took Eva, we provided her with all she needed such as a packed lunch, snacks, a water bottle and suitable clothing and trainers. During the hot weather they will need suncream and hats.
Children are signed in and out of the camp, and there is a carpark which is free for dropping off and picking up.
